 ===== Tinting ===== ===== Tinting =====
-There are no off the shelf tint options for this respirator. Though the lens geometry has compound curves, they are very slight and can safely be ignored when applying tint film. The lens is polycarbonate and theoretically can be dyed. Do note that the lens has some sort of protective coating that may need to be removed before dying will work. The manual does not mention what type of coating this is and only references it when advising the user not to use abrasives while cleaning it.+Honeywell offers both tinted and non-tinted lens covers for this respirator. Unfortunately they are only sold in packs of 25 and thus are prohibitively expensive.  b4412c has tinted one and traced the cut out tint before applying it. The original scan and an svg traced from it can be found [[https://wiki.beeper.network/?ns=wiki%3Arespirators%3Ahoneywell%3Aru6500&do=media|here]]. In theory it should be possible to print out the trace, verify it is to scale, and use it as a template to cut tint. b4412c has also found success using the trace file to 3d print mesh-like inserts that cover the inside of the lens and can be customized. Bring the trace svg into the slicer of your choice and scale it to 97.5% with a thickness equal to two or three layers. Set top and bottom surfaces to 0 and infill density to a high number. Adjust infill pattern and density to taste. b4412c has tinted one and traced the cut out tint before applying it.  +===== Other Variants =====
 +The RU6500 is primarily sold to the US market. Its closest relatives for the global market are the Optifit Single and Optifit Twin. While the RU6500 has two proprietary threaded side filter connectors and a standard 40mm connector on the front, the Optifit Single and Optifit Twin each only have one of these options. The Optifit Single keeps the standard 40mm connector on the front but has no side filter connectors, instead being featureless in the areas where they would be. The Optifit Twin has two proprietary bayonet filter side connectors and no filter connector on the front, instead having a speech diaphragm. The nozzle cover on the Optifit Twin is slightly more rounded than the nozzle cover on other variants.
 +
 +The Survivair Opti-Fit Tactical and Survivair Optifit CBRN seem to share most parts with the RU6500. They retain the front 40mm filter connector while also having two more on the sides instead of the proprietary threaded connectors of the RU6500. Additionally, the CBRN variant has a butyl rubber facial interface for added chemical resistance.
 +
 +The TwentyTwenty series has a lot of similarities to the RU6500 and its relatives. It is only sold in an SCBA configuration and is intended for firefighting. There are many different varieties within this series. Notable accessories include the kevlar headnet and microphone options.
